That s cool! I am not sure what the hype is on southco but from my experience they are finger killers!!
We have reviewed the system in house and we prefer the Southco as this does not have a cam system to compress the lids and seal trim. They provided us with a system to install and it was just more than we felt to be a benefit.
BCB,As always, the honest, candid response is most appreciated. Thanks to Fly and Scuba for the input. CF

i came very close to getting one. the system is base design is for a nitro boat compartment system. basscat has alot more compartments,as we know. they had NO wiring harness make up for the basscat boat and they actually wanted me to do some work on what i would need harness, and then they would adjust the price accordingly. well, that aint happening. for that price of the system and knowing that harnesss are made on peg baord lay out set ups,the harness should already be designed,as far as i would think at least. Not to mention the additional latches needed . hope it helps.

As a custom option there is no need for unused inventory as you can order as your potential customers request it. Bass Cat/Yar-Craft walleye pro walleye angler Joe Okada has it on his boat for the 2nd year now and loves the added benefits. From the maker of the Key Captain, Sarasota Quality Products website:”The KC 5300 Key Captain™ Remote Launching System alleviates the hassle of launch preparation for most boats. The complete time saving remote control system features the ability to operate the following functions from outside the boat:• Lock/Unlock Compartment Lockable Latches• Trim Down/Trim Up (trailer position)• Deck or Cabin Lights On/Off• Bilge Blower On/Off”
Hmm? Just wondered what positive influence those last two posts were. Sure not in the interest of selling latch systems coming on our own forum and making this statement. We ran Sarasota latches for a long time till we moved to Perko. It was a good company and we liked that product for the application. Now we offer both Perko and Southco depending on the model. We really liked that old Sarasota latch and we did desire Sarasota move from that old flat cam system. Though at that time they did not have a comparable product. What you are asking is for Ford, Dodge, Nissan or Chevrolet to have a different door latching option at customers interface. Why not let any customer pick whatever in pumps, seats, hinges, lighting and whatever else also. While that is a nice thought for consumers it is not one that works in production environments. We dont want to get into a tiff here with Sarasota and Joe Okada is an extremely nice guy. Though we are not in a position to offer these at this time.We are not telling you to not sell or offer Key Captain and our choices are ours. BCB
Oh, and the links are dead on the Tackle Warehouse site also.
