I received a LED trailer light upgrade kit with two of the backup lights for Christmas. I will be installing them on a 2008 trailer for my Cougar FTD and have a few questions.
Thank you
mine are the old school lights on a 08 trailer top of light is 4-1/2 inch above trailer frame mounted half way between runner and out side trailer frame
The other location for cat light I noticed they don’t have a certain spot if you look at some new trailers with them on some are just in front of fenders some are in the middle I’ll post a pic of where I put mine

also if you look up the post on the 2nd page called (color scheme pictures) there is a lot of trailers with the lucent lights on them and you can see what location you like the best
Thanks! Are your backup lights on tabs or mounted to the top of the frame?
mine are on the tab i see where bcb in the past has said drill a hole in trailer frame to mount if no tab but also paint the bare metal created from drill hole to prevent rust
here are mounted more towrds the outside
I added 2 on my 13 model. I used 1/4″×3″ aluminum angle. Drill trailor frame and mounted with a powdercoated carriage bolt. Drill hole in trailor a tad smaller than the square on the bottom of the bolt head. This assures a good ground through the bolt. Ill get some pictures tommorrow.
We’ve tried a new method, which lights the front of the tire on a 30 degree angle outwards. Then the rear is on the drivers side to light behind you. We actually put four on one trailer with two outwards on both sides. Makes the ramp easy in the morning.
Here is a couple of threads for the Puddle light installation.

I have mine angled outward a touch. It light the sides up very well!
Thank you for the pictures Redngo! That makes sense now and looks like a good way to go.

Can you post a picture of how you are mounting the two lights? I imagine four would really light things up!
My opinion is two in the rear both facing outward slightly, and two forward of the wheels also facing slightly outwards of the trailer. Some of the ramps I deal with require quite a bit of maneuvering and the forward positioned lights would help a lot.
