Lifespan of bunks on BCB trailer

As far as dimensions take a saw and rip them or find someone that has a table saw and have them rip them. Many lumber companies will rip and cut to your specs. I would think the treated lumber BCB uses would last several years but I dont have a definite time frame answer on that one. I wonder what kind of bolts does BCB use to bolt on bunks? BCB?Dan

I did have to replace the bolts. Take an ice pick and stick it in your bunks at a number of areas, any soft spots noticed replace them now, they wont get any better.

The bunks have changed treatment processes and we dont know life cycle on the present bunks. The EPA changed processes for timber companies just like we had to change on raw materials. Some companies do not use treated boards and BCB does. BCB

Having come from an N boat, I experienced replacing all bunks within 3 years of a new purchase. Cannot swear to it, but Id say they werent treated. Plus 2 hubs and rewelding the swing tounge. I promise I wont buy another, mainly because of the trailer. The boat really wasnt too bad.

I wish there was a way to safely get the boat off the trailer in my garage to give me time to work on mine. The bunks arent too bad, but the metal tabs they bolt to, need some serious work. And I want to build some new bunks while Im at it.When I bought my first P2, I was so concerned about the boat condition, I never took account of the trailer bunks, until about the 3rd time I took it to the water, when I backed it off the trailer, one of the bunks floated up in the rear because the holes had rotted out. (Thank The Lord for Bungie cords) till I could get new ones built.

Stainless lag screws at this time. Back a few Earlier years they were coated in various styles.

3/8″ X 1 1/4″ stainless if I remember the size right.
