Lighted BCB accessory control panel

I shut down all the power every time I come off the water at the batteries. Two breakers back there on my boat. The master and one for the trolling motor. The one for the troller is an add on after 3 Garmin GPS 1243 XSV and a force troller. There’s just too many things that can have parasitic draw on batts and easy to leave something on and have much more draw. I’ve even heard of the troller starting a fire after a cable touched the foot pedal turning the troller on and the prop being bound up not turning. With no breaker there that could get hot quick.

All that said, pretty sure the master power switch turns off the A-10.

My new 2023 bass cat did not come with a master power switch, that I am aware of. I just have a breaker by the starting battery, I have heard using the breaker as a power switch is not a good thing.  Can I assume  the lighted accessory panel staying powered up is not a good situation? Thanks

All of us that I know are turning that breaker off that’s attached to the positive battery post when we get off the water. I’ve had one of them fail in 15 years, just keep a spare in your truck. What model Cat do you have, that would make it easier for people to help you.

I just realized the control panel on dash that has buttons for bilge , lights, etc . , on my brand new bass cat stay on all the time.  That doesn’t seem like a good thing. The only option on my new boat is to move the 25 amp breaker by the battery to off. This is not supposed to be good for the service life of the breaker , I have heard. How bad is it for these lights to be on constantly? Shouldn’t Basscat equip all new boats with a power switch, if in fact, moving the breaker to off  is a bad thing ,every time the fishing day is over?   Thanks for the help

Johncat, that switch and breaker is designed to do that. You should be able to use it thousands of times with no issues. The BUSS brand are especially high usage, with less usage designed is in the SMTP style with red buttons.

Thanks, om my pantera classic I have the buss on cranking battery , so that sounds like I’m good there for many off and ons ,and the trolling motor breaker has the kind with a button and I think a switch as well. So the trolling motor breaker might not be designed fo many off and on cycles?
