I messed up and broke the selection arm on the valve for the livewell on our 1997 Pantera Classic. It appears to be a V4 (Fill / Empty /Recirculate) Flow-Rite valve based on the markings on the pull switch for the valve.. I am trying to decide on repairing it or replacing it. If I replace it it will be with a V3 (recirculation / Empty / auto) valve. Does anyone have experience with both? Which one do you like better and why? I am leaning toward the V3 because of the auto setting.
I agree with jstew, and while you are at it with this stuff make sure that the wire to the valve works freely and the valve opens and closes freely, if it doesnt rebuild or replace it at the same time, otherwise over time you are back to square one.
Thanks guys. I am at least the 3rd owner of the boat. The valve may have been changed before I got it. SLumpp, I planned on rebuilding it if I replaced the arm, but trying to make sure that is what I really wanted to do. I hate spending money twice because I did not do what I really needed to do the first time.
Tony – unless somebody has re-plumbed the system, stick with the two position valve / actuator setup. Its a very simple bulletproof system that works well.
