Locating best transom mount transducer location?

Your transom is solid glass, no wood. Drilling holes is not a problem and can be filled later. With my location I get reading to some pretty good speeds.

Thank you. I believe you did this on a Classic, what year compared to my 02, assume hull should be the same? Also did you run cable clips straight up and down thru all the motor wiring then up thru vent to the console. I have the power and sonar already run to the console but still not sure about the transducer until you sent this. Can I ask how far to the right of the right side motor bracket is that installed – trying to see the exact placement for mine. Is that your motor bracket coming down just to the left of where the cable clip is & slightly above? Hard to tell from picture. Mounting on the jackplate will have the ducer out of the water completely any time youre on plane–this is only useful for side and down imaging (which only really work at low/idle speed)and is in conjunction with a second transducer epoxied into the bilge for regular sonar while on plane. Ive only mounted a transducer on the stern of the boat on my previous aluminum, but its subject to getting clean water flow in order to get a reading and tjerefor needs to be in EXACTLY the right spot and often requires micro-adjustment. On my old boat I would lose my sonar image at about 38-40mph although the numeric depth would still display. A glass boat should get much cleaner water and so should keep the signal at higher speeds, but Im still skeptical that you get a reading above 50-ish rigged like that since so much of the hull is out of the water and creates disturbance that will affect the sonar image. Id be inclined to use a transducer in the bilge that shoots through the hull if its only for regular 2D sonar.

I have the transducer centered on that area, with the bottom of the boat as close to vertical center line of the transducer.

THANK YOU – that is exactly where I will place mine at too. This picture makes it much clearer to me on placement needed. Need to find several cable clips for the cable line going up, assume local hardware stores should have those. Thanks again, appreciate the pictures a lot!

The second picture is before I put the transducer wire inside the stainless steel bracket as in the first picture. I had a stick grab the wire with it outside the bracket and ripped the wire out of the transducer.
