Looking forward to having everyone at Lewis Smith Lake (“Smith Lake”). Do your research as this lake is deep (channels are 100-250′ deep) with rock shorelines. There are very few hazards/shallow areas in the lake…depending on water levels. Our lake fluctuates 14′ but should be back to if not at full pool (510MSL) by March.
Our spot bass will probably be what fills your live wells. As you know, they are aggressive fish and love the rock walls and long points. Our lake now has blue back herring and they are the most popular with the bass.
Here is one link to fishing reports page. We had a Major League Fishing event last April….may be worth researching what worked for them.
As far as lodging, Jasper and Cullman are your hotel options. If you want to stay on the water, we can help with condos, cabins, houses. You can access our site at http://www.SmithLakeRentals.com. If you scroll down the first page you will see a map in case you want to be close to the dam.
Good luck and look forward to good stories about Smith Lake.
