Looking for the Best GRASS PUNCHING Rod

Well, I have outdone myself again. I decided instead of putting my flipping stick on the deck of my boat it belonged in the depths of the bayou. One of those really dumb feeling moments on the water. Anyway, Im looking for opinions of heavy flipping rods for less than $150.00 I do not like telescoping rods. I prefer a 1 piece 7 to 7.5 footer that will handle weights up to 1.5 ounces for flipping the grass and reeds. What do you all think. Any and all opinions are appreciated. I have looked at All Star, Falcon, American rodsmiths and others. Right now Im leaning toward the Falcon Cara 72" heavy action one piece. I am already a big fan of Falcon. Falcon Cara, 74″ Mike McClelland designed jig, heavy flipping stick. The rod number is CCB-6-174-HC. I know what type of fishing you do, this is the best rod with a fast tip and plenty of backbone.Mike Anderson

I have 2 of the 72″ extra heavy grass rods like I think you are talking about. Love mine. For punching you hardly even have to set the hook with these and I dont get as worn out pitching a big weight all day with it. Not much tip, but enough to put your bait where you want it.

I have one of the rods that bryanadams is referring to it is a cc-8-172 and you could pull a bowling bowl thru a garden hose with it. It is an awesome rod, right now I am doubling it as a frog rod.I havent tried the new jig rod mentioned above so I cant compare them for you, sorry about that. Judd Lasiter

Thanks for the replys fellas. Sounds like I was on the right track. I would like to find one of the Mike Mclleland jig rods to try. The Falcon 72″ rod definately isnt an all purpose rod. Punchin and frog fishing is about it. You cant punch with it and flip bitsy jigs. Its more of a weapon than just a tool.
