Loose Fender question

I have a 2012 trailer with tandem fiberglass fenders. The front of 1 fender keeps braking loose from the support bracket. I used the black sealant BC was kind enough to provide then c-clamped it but within a trip or 2 it is loos again. Has anyone found a way to bolt the fender down for a permanent fix and then reinstall the step pad. Since you are bolting fibergall to metal I would think you need a good sized washer but the head of the bolt will stick up thru the step pad material. Someone suggested using a jack to put the weight of the boat on the support bracket until it bends closer to the fender. For obvious reasons doing it this way makes me a bit nervous at to making a bad situation even worse. It does seem the fender was installed a bit twisted causing the problem. Thanks.

Have you had the fender all the way off or are you trying to simply squeeze urethane in there?Might help if you take the fender completely off and clean both surfaces really well. I even took a wire wheel to my support brackets to get a good clean metal to adhear to.Instead of clamps, I put all three of my trolling motor batteries on the fender to weigh it down and make contact while the glue dried.If it seems twisted, I wonder if one of the notches on the back side was cut just a little too small? might be something to look at. If it is, a cut off wheel works great to rough in a wider hole.

I tried to repair mine as well and ran into the same problem and it broke free again. I ended up having Sherm do them for me the 2nd time around. I believe he made some sort of dam that held the adhesive in place and filled the gap so that it didnt all squeeze out. I gotta admit the repair is rock solid.
