Lowrance Elite 7ti

I have a 2005 Pantera Classic and am wanting to upgrade the electronics. I am considering a Lowrance Elite 7ti with the structure scan. What are the Pros and Cons on these units? I fish a few small tournaments a year so I dont need the top of the line units.?Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Grab one of the HDS Gen3 from someplace for a couple hundred more. I know its easy to say, but youll be a lot happier with it. I just took off an Elite 7 and swapped to an HDS.Purchased new 5/4/15Bass Cat Sabre Vision EliteMercury Pro XS 150MotorGuide 75lb Tour EditionHumminbird – Stock (will be changing soon I hope)

Be careful, some of these cheaper units do not have CHIRP. The unit above does not. If you fish water deeper than 10 ft. the chirp units offer clearer images.I think most people are going with chirp now when upgrading their units. Good luck with your search.john

If you would consider a Bird, the new Gen 2 Helix 7 SI is a good buy. Has DI , SI, Chirp, networkable. Around the same price as the Lowrance, or maybe a bit less if you shop around. You might even be able to find a first generation even for less still left over if you dont need the latest and greatest (no Chirp).

catdude28, unless they changed on the new Helix units, the Helix 7 is not networkable. Not until you get to the Helix 9. This may have changed on the new units though.
