Lowrance HDS Merc Guage Help

Picked up a new 2025 Cougar on Friday with a Merc 250, dealer was great but is a long trip from us in Maine and I am trying to get engine info to show on the HDS12. I wanted to head out to break it in tomorrow.

 

My understanding is that it came rigged to read the Mercury data. You guys always have good info any help appreciated on how to set it up or how to check to make sure its actually rigged. I am pretty handy just need to know what to look for.

It can be and that is the NMEA connection through the Smart Craft monitor gauges.

1. The NMEA system must be connected to get the data through from the MercMonitor guage. Mercury SmartCraft gauges do not have NMEA capability, only the MercMonitor gauge does.
2. In the event that you do not have a MercMonitor Gauge, then the NMEA 2000 Gateway is Part # 98-8M0165589 . 2B. > That is actually about the same cost as the MercMonitor Gauge kit itself, and the number for the MercMonitor kit  is 8M0135536 .
3.  Lowrance also has the capability to read SmartCraft functions and that assembly requires the Vessel View Link  Part # 8M0110639
4. You also can add a vessel View mobile for a phone or tablet: Part # 8M0115080 / or 8408M0157078 may have superseded that.
