From experience you should have no problems. The LCR could freeze the fluid if it were sustained low temps, though we have never known of a problem. BCB

The LCDs probably dont mind at all unless you get to -40 degrees C or so… Most I have worked with (I deal with computers day in and day out) usually will become flakey at -40C but rarely are damaged. A bath in liquid nitrogen will certainly wreck them, but 0 F will not be a problem at all…2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200

Realy appreciate the help. Tried Lowrance 6 times today and as usual busy signal each time. Im not to concerned because weather is supposed to warm up the rest of the week. Ive checked with some of the locals that run graphs and they have never thought of it or had problems. I asked some of our etecs today what they thought and they said if you think about it we leave gauges on wells for up to 48hrs in worse weather than my garage, so Im not going to yank the dash mount out. Sounds like you have a handle on it. I dont think you can calibrate. I may be wrong though. The sensor made be bad too.

No calibration, just replacement items and they do not warranty temp sensors.

Have another question regarding a Lowrance network. Assuming the dash and bow are hooked in proper network architecture, and there are three water temp sensors…one on the trolling motor, one on transom, and one in livewell…how do ypu program which temp sensors reads to either the dash or bow Sonar Unit? I read the Lowrance manual and it seems to indicate you could have all three sensors read to one unit. Unfortunately, unless I overlooked it, they didnt indicate how? Am I right or wrong?

You can NMMA the 1440, though that is a lot of trouble. The NMMA networking on the other two units is a nice feature. Though the T connections can also fail. They are better than the original T conncetors, though still have some failure. The NMMA system is on the Lowrance Web Site and you can view diagrams and connections there.

Have you dowloaded the upgrades from the Lowrance website? They have had issues with some of the units reading the bottom in shallow water.

My units are 10 months old. I havent downloaded any updates…although Ill take a look since I have a Navionics card reader. I dont think it has to do with updates though….Im thinking its the settings I have on the unit…curious if anyone else has experienced this. Ive never had this issue with any Lowrance units in the past. My guess is turn the sensitivity way down…maybe its reading the “canopy” grass as the bottom….but, I am not sure.

Ill try it….lowering the ping speed that is. Just weird that Ive always had these setting on any other unit Ive owned and never had this problem. Makes sense to have the ping speed lower at the bow. Its got to be either sensitivity or the ping speed. Ill do some adjusting and see what happens.

Culligan Man…I think youre right. Did some “googling” and found that 08 models had the issues that mine are having…guess mine are 08 models. Both my units are showing version 2.4 software….the updates convert to version 2.5 which is what I need. I downloaded the updates to the mmc card…but the updates wont install automatically as declared. Does the unit have to lock on to satellites before they update from the mmc card automatically? Also, with the units “linked”, does one have to be off while the other is on in order to install? Feel like I ALMOST have the problem solved.

ClintB, I went through the update hassle a while back and this is what I learned. 1. The MMC / Sd card must be no larger than 1 gig. 2. It also must be a “regular speed” card and not high speed. That info came from Lowrance. 3. They suggested Sand Disk brand. I live in the Houston area and have been told that a 1gig regular speed disk is obsolete. My suggestion is to purchase the update from Lowrance and they will send it on a card that you can keep and use it when other updates come out. (Thats the only way I know how to get a card that will work.) As I understand it the high speed cards can write the information on different areas of the card and your unit is unable to read it where as the regular speed card writes the information say in the bottom left hand corner of the card and your unit is able to read it. When I updated my unit it did automatically update when installed. Just my experience with updates. Good Luck, georgeGeorge

Thanks guys. I figured it out. The issue with downloading of the updates I had was due to “Windows Vista”. I have a 18 Mb mmc card I have had for about 3 years. I had to download the updates one at a time for about 25 tries each on the mmc before all the components of the update showed up on the card. They uploaded automatically once inserted into the units. Followed the instructions listed on the download site for the settings that should now eliminate the problem with the screens just “flashing” without a reading when over grass. Both units now show software version 2.5 in use. Now all I have to do is get on the lake and see what happens. I will keep ping speed in mind as well.

Many of my customers have found the spotlight a PIA to use. You have to move the footpedal to “scan” each time you want to see. That image stays on the unit until you “scan” again.
