Main Power Switch Replacement

Had a few extra peoples'-worth of gear in the cockpit recently and in the course of climbing in or out of the driver seat I must have clipped the rocker power switch with my foot and shut down the dash. My graph is wired direct and so I didn't notice. Unfortunately a couple of fish in my livewell did notice. Probably never happen again as I'll be paranoid about it now, but was thinking of maybe putting one of those stainless push button type switches there as it would seem to be tougher to shut off by accident? I read the description and couldn’t find the amp rating. If the amp rating is the same as the one you’re replacing — it your deal. Personally, I’ve had 3 different Basscats since 1979 and have not hung anything on, or accidentally flipped the switch. If you think it might happen again, place a light on the dash somewhere that the switch controls.

I have a awesome spot light that is a aircraft landing light. I use this switch. Though i added a relay switch so as i actually only power the relay with the switch. This switch is tried and test by many and it is waterroof as well

Aircraft Landing Light?? I know those P2’s are fast but yours must really fly! LOL

yes, that’s a good switch but you’ll have to do as you did with a relay or solenoid to carry the higher current. Writeup says these are rated for 1A. Not sure if a relay will be continuous duty enough to maintain the other electronics in the boat for an all day trip. I continuous duty solenoid, like a winch solenoid, may be a better choice.

John i believe it 10 amp on a 12 volt system. Like not sure if the switch would hold up even if with a relay.
