We dont think so. That is a part of the construction on the Margay and without very major modifications is not able to be done. There also is not enough room in front of the consoles to accommodate your request. You would have to see the assembly to understand, though it is not a simple partition added. While We are not big on center rod storages, the Margay was that out to offer the most versatility in this size package and cost efficiency in the construction. These smaller boats have to be extremely efficient in production to ever be feasible as components such as engine, steering, engine parts, graphs, troller and even batteries, are major percentage of the retail package costs. We suggest you look at either a Sabre or Sabre FTD also. BCB
I love my Margay. The only thing that I have to complain about and makes me want to get another model is not having side box rod holders. I hate the center rod storage. Is it worth spending a lot more money on another boat for? For my needs, no. But having those side rod storage boxes sure would be nice.
I feel there is plenty of room. I never feel cramped for space even when we have 3 adults fishing. The deck is wide so it makes it feel more open
Ok. Thanks for info.
There is plenty of room. Back in the day, a 17 or 18 boat was the norm. I fished out of a 172 Venture in tournaments with a partner for nearly 17 years. The Margay has bigger decks than that boat had.
Mine is coming with a 150proxs. Any idea how fast I should be able to run it before it starts to walk on me?
even a sabre with long rods is dangerous. been hit in head with 1oz c-rig weight. gotta be careful in litle boats
Think I will wear jeans and sun glasses
You just need to trust who youre fishing with. I have some friends that I dont get within 30 feet of and thats when we fish from shore. I have others where three of us get into a 12 ft Jon boat with no issues. I have a 115 on mine and that is more than enough for me. Im still learning. BCB could answer that better.
Copy that
The Margay fishes very large and Stuart (Plant Super.) has one a this house now. He has frequently commented on how large it fishes as well as how little fuel he now burns in comparison to previous boats. He goes back to a 250 and 20er soon and he says he has not missed it while fishing from the front deck. BCB
Yes, to both of your questions. I believe the console will hold up to the HDS touch 9 or Humminbird 9 & 10 helix units. There was someone fishing out of a Margay with dual blades this past weekend in the Smith Lake Southern Open. If I find the picture I will post it up. Here is a link to it. It is on page 2 of the Smith Lake Southern open blog. Thanks for the information!
Did anyone get to get to drive Margay that was at the owners invitational lake demo that had the new mercury 115 pro xs on it? If so, what were their impressions on it? I wasnt able to get off of work to head that way.Last edited by hsumaverick on May 11th, 2016, 5:33 pm, edited 1 time in total.
