Merc 175 EFI question

Just wondering what the max RPMs should be for this motor. It is a 1996. Thanks for any help.

Operating range would be 5500-5800 I believe. I have a 96 Mariner 175 EFI.There are no rev limiters on these engines, so make sure you have a water pressure gauge and working tach.96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner

My 1998 150efi merc is 5600 according to the tag on the motor mount

I would look for somewhere between 5600 and 6000 rpm. That motor can turn more than 6000 but the power curve falls way off after about 5800-5900 so any more and you are just burning fuel.Mike
