Do not get the Basic MM. It lacks certain very desirable features. (Ask me how I know!) If you go to the BBC site and look for the link to European Marine, they have great customer service. Rhonda will hook you up with the parts and Don will walk you through the install.(I hope I have not violated some BCB rule referring to another site.)

I installed the basic monitor in my speedo hole. Im satisfied. Though I was just interested in water temp. Its al in wat your interested in. I talked with sherm at sherms marine. He explained the benifits of the better than basic monitor really not that much more expensive. A few big plus it does have is you can view three of your choices at once. Plus if you have a warning it shows a code and I think wat it is. For me I was just concerned with water temp though even with the basic you can scroll through the option and pic your basic showing. So in reality it all in wat you want and wat you want to spend. I spent around 300 and got the short harness and the 4wy junction. Took me about a hour.basically a plug and play.
