It has NMEA output

The “Basic” level which is no longer made and is technically Level 0 and does not include NMEA.  Level 1 and up all have a NMEA connection.

Technically a NMEA “Backbone” is numerous NMEA T fittings connected together.  Your Mercmonitor will not have a “backbone” but is able to connect to one.

ok so all I need to do is Buy and install a NMEA starter kit, Hook it up to the back of the Merc Monitor then since Solix has NMEA 2000 connection just run a cable from my backbone to the Solix?

 

Or do I need this “Mercury NMEA 2000 Gateway” even if I have the Merc Monitor……   All this NMEA 2000 is new to me.

It should have a NMEA output with the Monitor Gauge. With a SC2000 SmartCraft system you would need the NMEA Gateway.
