If you ran a half tank recently then ethanol is probably not the issue. It sounds like a simple item and we would check all the plug wires.

Thanks, I checked them also and will take it out tomorrow and see how it runs. I really appreciate the advice and suggestions.

There is little to do on electronic ECM controlled engines. Rebooting them by disconnecting the battery is seldom a solution, though can be tried. The battery connections are a potential issue so that accomplishes both. The fuel hoses still can deteriorate and newer fuels harden lining on Mercurys grey hoses before the new B rated lines. Fuel lines (black) on the boat are most all ethanol resistant A1 or A2 series in the year model. We spec A1 and have all A1 now, though Mercury only requires B series. It sounds like you did your best to be prepared and these EFI engines are usually very reliable.

Not a lot to fail on an 08 EFI. The computer handles virtually everything. Only two things I can think of are the pulse pump and the throttle position sensor. Pulse pump normally will keep it from “turning up”, but not limit rpms to 2200. The throttle position sensor could do just that depending on where it fails. I had one failing due to a “bad spot” in the module. It was intermittent and when “out” wouldnt get out of the hole. Its a pricey unit to replace, but essentially plug and play – not a lot in labor.The fuel lines could well be an issue if a liner has delaminated and sucks closed with fuel flow. Despite him saying it was only run on pure gas – theres no way I wouldve left original fuel lines in place. If the lines are gray with either orange or red markings – get it off of there and replace the bulb…..

Try pumping the bulb while accelerating . — That would feed more fuel to the engine . If it tries to go then you know its a fuel issue . —

Boat ran perfect up until yesterday afternoon. Boat was checked out by a mechanic right after I bought it and test drove it. Fuel lines are not the original ones, they were replaced by previous owner. Replaced the spark plugs and boat runs perfect. I took it to a local mechanic who could not find anything wrong with it except he stated the spark plugs could use replacing and recommended replacing them because he thought that might be the issue. He said the 150 EFI is known to foul plus occasionslly. I went and bought 6 plugs and everythings fine now. Mechanic did check compression, throttle position sensor, fuel pressure, and found no codes whatsoever when he hooked up his computer.
