MinKota trolling motor..keep repairing..

does anyone else have to keep replacing screws or adding washers to their MinKota trolling motor brakets, on the inside? I have seen this on several MinKotas. I seem to keep having the plastic piece, on the inside of the braket, bust loose. This makes it hard to retrieve the trolling motor from the depoayed position to the stored position and it makes a awful racket when doing so (plastic tearing and deforming). Also i have to step on the motor to get it to go to the full deployed position so that the pins anchor.

so yall see alot of this too..? LOL. i think its mostly due to the fact of living on big water. Rayburn and Toledo gets pretty rough and some of this equipment takes a beating.I just dont know how many more times i can add bigger washers. I can not seem to find that particular piece of plastic in spare parts sections of websites. I hate to have to replace a good running trolling motor because of this.

Which trolling motor is this. There is some mounts that are better than others, but all need to be repaired if they are broke. Adding washers could be considered a quick fix, but its not properly repairing the unit. Yes, big water does take its toll on mounts. I am guessing you have a fortrex…they are really bad for this. You gotta make sure you stap it down really tight in at least two places.

yea, its the Fortrex… i strap it down near the motor. I guess i need to strap it down at the head to. I see this alot on Fortrex though, not just mine. The plastic just seems like it cant take the abuse of up and down. just wanted to know if anyone had a majic fix out there that i dont know about.

my bomts on my maxxum came loose also, but i caught it before the plastic collets wore out. put lock tite on them, havnt come loose in 3 yrs

All my buddies who run Erie all the time strap it twice and the problem has gotten a lot better. The Maxxums were a lot better then the forttex. trust me no this one just strap it twice and problem solved.

Just a little short on power and the hinge bracket door would break.Good trollers and wish we had them back.
