In my opinion, you should mount it right below your engine on the transom area above drain plug . Those things dont do good while going fast on plane, so you want to mount it up out of the way so it doesnt get broke off, like our old transom mounted near the strakes. I would check out transducer shield to see if they have a mount for that application
