What is the easiest way to remove decals from the motor without screwing it up. I know different colored ones are offered in the parts on the BassCat website so I assume the old ones have to come off. Thanks in advanceJohn
It is easy – just takes some time. I removed the black decal on my Pro XS last week with Gooo Gone (rubbing alchohol works fine too). First I used a hair dryer to warm up the existing decal & with the Gooo Gone it peeled off easily, leaving only small amounts of adhesive. Those are quick work with the Gooo Gone. Put on new red Merc decal & had one tournament & 4 heavy rainstorms since & no issue with adhesion. Time required depends on if youre a perfectionist!
Heat! Ive tried acetone, goo gone, hair dryer and combination of but finally got a hold of a heat gun and that did the trick better than anything I have tried.Jason Ferbrache – Edmond, OK 1995 Basscat Eyra
The best thing I have used is a eraser wheel you put in a drill. You can get them from a auto paint supply store. Body shops use them to remove pin stripes and glue left behind emblems. No danger of get paint to hot as with a heat gun. Just erase and then wipe residue off and your done.PS some auto parts stores carry them aswell. My local auto zone does.
Took me longer to type the question than it did for me to get the old decal off. Hair dryer did the trick and then a quick wipe with Goof Off. Cant even tell they were ever even on there. Will put the new ones on when they arrive tomorrow. This was way easier than I thought it would be. Thanks or all the comments and tips.John
