MOTOR GUIDE DIGITAL 71 ROPE BROKE

How hard is it to replace the rope on a Motor Guide digital 71lb thrust trolling motor. Mine Broke and it looks like you just cut the old one off and feed a new one in and tie it off, but I dont want to mess anything up (which I do with great precision)! Any help is appreciated.thanks guys,Jon

Try to use the old rope to feed the new one through. You may be able to heat the end of the rope and attach them. It is a tedious task if you have not done it before. You can also use a piece of small wire (stiff) to feed the new rope. It takes us about 3 minutes, though we have seen it take others over an hour. A frustrated hour!BCB

Use a cable off of a hunting bow, archery shops have them laying all over that are garbage, cut the teardrop off one end run it through the handle first, through the bracket, make a loop around release on motor and have archery shop put a crimp on it. cable is stainless ,it will be last time you need to do it

The bow cable is coated already,Ive run one for many years now without breaking,unlike rope that always breaks in a tourney. The only thing to watch is putting the crimp as close to the release bar as possible so it will not hit guides as you pull it. It will be the last time you replace it.Greg
