Motor Guide trolling motor very noisy

probably over the very front part of the mount where the tools are housed, my old boat had a motorguide and i had to do the same, sometimes the clips that hold it on get worn and will jiggle around.

I can understand the worn and jiggle part but the unit is only 10 months old.

For what it is worth, my PII came with a MG. I tried all of the tips suggested on the owners board, without much success. Here are some pics of what I did with foam tape. This only helped for a few weeks. MG ultimately replaced the trolling motor with a new motor, but I opted sell the replacement unit and install a MK Fortrex. Good luck with your dilemma. While I strive to keep my posts in a positive manner. This one is a little hard for me to bite my tongue. Some owners have opted to use duct tape to help with noise suppression. Seriously, duct tape. Thanks for the picture cef I will try the foam tape. Yes I know what you mean about staying positive its getting to the point of embarrassment to where I dont want to use the trolling motor when I to close to another boat.

We find just electrical tape in three layers may work well also.

Just imagine the rpms of these things, and hitting a stump, rock, or just bottom. It doesnt take much to slightly bent the shaft on the armature, on any brand. I have replaced the armature once, and straightened some, to where they didnt vibrate. There are different ways, but replacement of the armature is easiest if you dont have access to a machine shop of tools, etc,,,,,

I put the 3 layers of electrical tape, no more noise thanks BCB for the info.
