Motor Mount Square and Centered?

Adjusting the hight of the Outboard and I thought I would check to see how level the motor is to the boat. After leveling out the boat with floor jack so the hull pad was bang on level. I checked the motor to see how it was side to side.

As I suspected it was way out. I should have taken actual measurements for numbers but if I just used the motor mount slide plate as a reference I would be a half an inch out. Do the math and that puts the center of the prop over to the starboard side by atleast 2 inches . This explains why the cat would ride low on the side until she was on the pad.

So I marked the edge of the slide plates to give me a reference for when I have to move the motor down some more to get the tunned up prop running right.

Just something that you might want to take a look at if you think your boat runs to one side.

Motors being out of center honestly would never be noticed during most operation. We don’t know if yours is out of center or not from the method you shared.  The only aspects that matter for a center line are the engine mounts being parallel to the pad itself, and the centerline of those being close to the center line of the pad. Almost as if a T square could project those lines as a laser across those planes.

We don’t know the model and year of your rig, though it could be tweaked to be level at lower speeds without touching the engine mounting. That of course would change some of those mid-level performance attributes, or characteristics.
