Moving to Texas

after attending the o.i last year at sam rayburn with my wife we (I) decide to move there. I know theres a lot of texas bass cat owners on here and figured it to be the best place for some honest answers. im looking at the lake Conroe and lake Livingston area possibly working in the Huntsville,spring or Livingston area and commuting. my questions are as follow, weather in the area as a standard i.e how cold winter how much rain snow tornados and hows the summer temps, second question is the economy in the area not sure if the drop in oil prices really effects texas as much as we here about, up here in Washington state, and lastly the fishing and more to the point the clubs in the area and there willingness to help an out of state new guy learn the waters. any replies or additional input about the area would be appreciated.
