Need 2017 Puma FTD trailer help

So I moved and have been having an issue trying to get my trailer into my garage. My garage is detached and has a very steep upward slope to get to it. Every time I try to back my trailer up (without the boat as it is at the dock) the breaks lock up and I can't back up any further. I have tried this roughly a dozen times now. Now my question. Is there a way to disengage this automatic feature so i can actually get my trailer into my garage? Please help as I am beyond frustrated with this.

You are having a problem with power or ground when in reverse to kick out the reverse solenoid. You should have gotten a key to put in the slot on the trailer to keep the brakes from actuating.

There are several manufacturers that make and sell lock-out keys. Here is a magnetic one that you might like. Keep looking as there are others.

You will always have to use the key to back into your garage because you said it was a “severe uphill driveway”. This is normal. You should not need to use the key when backing on flat ground.

If the reverse lock out solenoid is working or is getting the power from the tow vehicle when in reverse you shouldn’t need to put the lock out tool in place. I’d check the blue wire coming from the tow vehicle and make sure it is powering up the solenoid.

I forgot to mention that you can tape a coin in the slot, I have done that before when using other vehicles to move my trailer.

Buy the magnetic one, it attaches to the trailer, you will always have it handy!

I just got the brake lockout key and epoxied on a thin disc neodymium magnet. I just stick it to the winch stand when not in use. I might paint it orange.

Regardless if you boat is on the trailer or if it is a steep driveway, the brakes should not be locking up.

When your vehicle is put into reverse it should activate the back up solenoid on the trailer.

The power wire from the connector to the solenoid is a blue wire. Check for power to the solenoid. Its normally a fuse, bad ground, blue wires is cut where the tongue swings, and last the solenoid is bad. very few go bad, so check the other items.

You can use the lock out, but if the solenoid is working properly, you shouldn’t need it.
