Im a longtime Basscat owner and wont even consider another brand as long as the Pierces own it. It is not my thing to ask for info for tournaments as I like to do my own thing and find my own fish. But - I am from Michigan and am coming to Arkansas in December for the bassmaster team championship on Degray. Due to the off limits dates and the long travel distance my partner and I will have a day and a half to learn the lake and figure something out for the tournament. I havent been able to find much about the lake and am hoping someone would be willing to share some basic info about the lake(clarity, cover/structure type, water temps) and how it fishes in early December. If you have any information to share, please get a hold of me at jarrod.sherwood-at-sbcglobal-dot-net Thanks!
Actually its easy. What I would do with the practice period is drive all of the main lake points from Caddo North and the ones in brushy- basically anywhere you have clear water from state park north.Mark all large brushpiles.Rig up 4 arigs each. Different weight. All with maximum number of baits, all with blades on them as well.Hook up swimbaits to be weedless, or grubsThrow them around the piles all day but not in them.Dont waste time doing anything else. Anything else is gonna lose.C.O.D. Jr. III
Hes right. They couldnt have picked a tougher lake in Arkansas than degray. But its great for watching bald eagles… And the state park lodge has some good views and restaurant. Pay close attention to your maps and sonar for shallow water .96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
Agree with clownshoes…IT GONNA SUCK! Worst lake Ive ever been on. A rig a rig a rig. When you get tired of throwing the a rig….throw the a rig some more. Good luck!
BASS – No A rigs allowed. I guess it is better to know it will suck before I get there, but I sure wish I had asked before committing to go. No grass? I had read the exact opposite and was selecting tackle based on it being there so that helps. Hopefully we can find some fish that are willing to play. Are there smallmouth of any size/numbers? That is a species we may have an upper hand on. Thanks again!
