Need Education on Tires

Just my opinion but if I was running a single axle trailer I think I would look for the best trailer tire I could find.Dan

I have a single axle flatbad trailer that I run Triangle Radial S/T ST205/75/15s on. Load range D 8PR. Max air cold is 65psi and rated for 2150lbs each. I would strongly consider putting these on a single axle boat trailer if I had one. Im running these same tires on my Puma ftd in a 6PR that came from factory on it. For trailer tires ill have to agree with captjerry. Maxxis is the best trailer tire that we have sold in the last few years. For my rig personally, I pull the made in China trailer tires off before you can blink your eyes and put a good American made passenger car tire on. My 15 Sabre single axle trailer came with 10 ply made in China trailer tires, and ill admit I was impressed to see 10 ply rating. I was more impressed with the 4 ply B.F.G. Radial T/A sidewall thickness that I put on that was thicker. I have run good quality car tires since the early 80s, and never even had a flat.

I have to agree with spanky. My trailer tire experience has been less than stellar. Im confused when these guys say they have trailers coming from the factory with trailer tires. I thought BCB, long ago, made the decision to run passenger tires on their new trailers. Anyway, I pull my trailers on the interstate and rarely go 65. I dont know who does. Thats what a load range c trailer tire is rated for. Every time you pull any distance and pull faster, you are weakening that tire. Of course, the pax tire is rated for interstate speeds. If you want to run a trailer tire, definitely go with a load rang D tire. I prefer the pax tire.

I have an 02 Classic with single axle trailer that have owned for 8 yrs. now. Put my second set of Cooper Cobra Radial GTs P215/70R15 on last year, keep at max air pressure. Have had one blow out prior to my putting new tires on but travel a particular back road way to favorite fishing spot a lot and it is pretty rough with bad pot holes at times, hard to miss when dark. Not good for any type of tire. Satisfied with the Coopers or wouldnt have put on the 2nd time. The dealer carried the Maxxis in stock, had to order the Coopers – his preference was the Coopers?
