Topic: Need Help with BC Trailer Lights

Hooked my 2009 Puma and Trailer up today and the trailer running lights on side and back work fine. The tail lights work also, as long as the truck head lights are on. Back up light for trailer works OK too. But can not get the trailer brake lights to come one nor turn signals. Checked all connections at truck and everything is OK. Boat and Trailer have been in garage since December and things were working OK then....any help would be appreciated.thank you, John Williamson

John, sometimes there is a separate fuse for some of your trailer light functions. I know there is on my Ford super duty. Heres what I would do for troubleshooting. Unhook your trailer plug at your pull vehicle. Take a multimeter and make sure you are getting voltage to one pin for those functions you want to check. Brakes, running/tail lights, turn signal. I think your brakes and turn signal will be the same pin for right side and another pin for left side. In this way, you can isolate the problem to your tow vehicle or your trailer. Since no brakes or turn signals, I suspect fuse in your tow vehicles fuse box.

If you are running a chevy truck,there is a separate fuse panel under the hood that will have the fuses for your trucks trailer circuits

Just worked on my 09 puma lights this week. At rear where the lights are ensure tht the butt connectors havent came loose tht was my issue for similar problem this will be around light connectors. big al

Im pretty sure that brakes and turn signals are separately fused under the hood. If you blew that fuse it might indicate a problem with one of your lights or a short in the wiring. I know someone who kept burning this fuse because there was water in his light and he couldnt see the level. The lights would work fine until he stopped and the water would shift and short out the fuse blowing it again. Just saying…..it can happen. I would look for that fuse.Everyone should believe in something. I believe Ill just go fishing!

Thank you for all the Replys and Help,APDRIVER, pegged it for me, I have a Ford super duty also, found the fuse/relay under the hood blown and found one of the pins burned off…..Again, thanks for the help.John Williamson
