need help with boat value for insurance settlement.

Bo, go to NADA.com and Consumer site, then figure the trailer, boat and engine all separately as this was the method in 1992. Then be sure you use the the options, as well as the right year model for your engine. There are retail and high low ranges.

NADA puts it at about $6200 on the low side. Your in a not fault situation, which I would go to my insurance company and get them engaged in the negotiations. Which could be a double edged sword if your under covered. Still buying them back is another topic and they dont want to mess with salvage. Thus they know your probably coming out ahead, unless you decline the purchase. Which might be the preferred by them and yourself.

Okay, this is my world. I would assume by reading your post that you are dealing with the insurance company of the other vehicle who knock the bottom off your boat?? IF so, they have the responsibility to put you back the way you were. See what the NADA book says, show them that, be fair with the condition of your boat, stick to your guns. Inquire with your agent and see what she or he says. It is not a game, this is real world, and you stay to your opinion. Tell the adjuster you are to be put back to the same position you were before his insured hit you. Tell him to go and find you a replacement boat, motor and trailer, like kind and quality with the amount of money he is offering. I am different, I love this stuff.

I am different, I love this stuff.no, i am dealing with my insurance. i have not heard anything from the insurance of the vehicle that hit the motor. so, that would involve hiring a lawyer. you have insurance for these situations, and i look at it from the view point that my insurance needs to make me whole again, and they can deal with the other company.

It is not your insurance companies responsibility to make you whole. The other insurance company is responsible. You need to contact them, if there is any! Your carrier will pay you market value less your deductible. The person who hit, their insurance, is first dollar, no deductible. That is where you need to spend your time, at this stage. if no insurance exist, then you get to deal with your carrier and you do not have as much leverage. You do not have to have an attorney. Find out and contact the other carrier.

Sometimes those attorneys are worth the cost. They are offering $2000 less then NADA, thats worth fighting about. If you cant get anywhere with the other insurance company assuming there is one, an attorney is your best bet. They might resolve with one call or a letter so only charge you few hundred. Youd still be way ahead. Ask friends and see if anyone knows an attorney who bass fishes, he/she might be sympathetic and cut you a break. Good luck.

Good advice on the contact of the other parties insurance. Your insurance company only has a responsibility to service you, which they obviously are trying to do.
