need prop help!!!

i have a 2004 Cougar with a 225 Optimax, not a Pro XS…i usually run what could be classified as a tournament load…i need some advice on which prop would be the best overall for my rig…top end is important but not the main criteria…any advice that anyone can give would be greatly appreciated

I run a cougar FTD with a 26 tempest.Hole shot is great and top end is about 73 with a tournement load.RWP

Most popular would probably be a 25 Trophy for that combination. Some might turn a 26 Trophy or even run a 25 Tempest.We would have to know RPMs @ WOT to suggest something more specific.Judd Lasiter

currently, im running a 27 Solas…5750 is the where the rev limiter kicks in and ive adjusted the motor on the jack plate to try to find the best height for the motor…i know the boat is capable of performing better than it does with the Solas and just need some expert advice on which prop will be best for my situation

25 Trophy or 26 Tempest. I ran a 26 Tempest on the same set up as you and top end speed was in the low 70s.

I got an email on this, and am slow responding. I also recommend the 25″ Trophy. I ran a 2004 FTD/225 Optimax, and the 25″ Trophy performed best overall. It had a great holeshot and mid-range performance; I run a “heavy” load, and never had a problem with hitting the rev-limitor.I plugged all 4 PVS holes, and did not run a blow-out ring on mine. Helped the hole-shot when the livewells were full with out blowing out…Good Luck,Gary Hollander

26 Trophy with cavitation ring. Plug two of the holes with the big holes. I have no blowout and I get up good. 05 cougar FTD 225 opti.Greg
