GREAT Looking P4!! Welcome to the family! Mike (Ft. Worth, TX)Jmtfrisco, Texas
Sweet PIV. Welcome to the family!
Nice PIV!!
We are glad you are enjoying the experience and your P4! Amistad is a wonderful fishery and we hope TP&W can preserve its quality into the future with the pressure it has now. It was one of the hidden Gems, as was Falcon and Choke Canyon still is to some degree.
Its not hidden anymore but there still a huge, relativly virgin population over in Mexico. You can fish all day in a river channel and hardly ever see another boat. If youre willing to make the run up river, its like you have one of the best bass waters in the country all to yourself. I shuoldnt advertise it so much though.
Thanks guys! I really appreciate the comments and it sure is nice to be apart of the owners forum. I reside in Phoenix, Az and even though there are a few decent lakes here, I plan on numerous trips to far off lakes. Clear Lake, California and Falcon Lake are on my short list of places to fish in 2008. Maybe I will see some of you there!! Have a safe and memorable Memorial Day!! Bill Green
Great looking P4! I really like the red pins. Its your personal signature on a work of art. Glynn
Nice looking P4, hope you enjoy it for years to come.
Most will run into the 70s though each particular set up is different. There will be a couple of Yamaha folks come on soon with results. There may be more left and this particular boat once did run pretty good.
Welcome to the family.. I cant help with the boat set up… But how about a few picts of the new to you ride?
Welcome to the Family!!!
sounds like you need to come up with your jack plate and put a bigger prop on it. i am running an 06 cougar with a 250 yamaha.with a full load and gass tanks full partner and all i am getting 77 mph in warm water. alone and in cool water with a light load i have seen 82 but conditions have to be right. i am running a 27 m prop on mine. how is your hole shot with your set up the way it is now? sonny
First question–Is the 64 mph read from a GPS unit, or from a dash speedo? If GPS, then you have your baseline. If it is speedo, then I”m thinking you might have a plugged pitot, and not getting full waterline pressure to the speedo head. On the prop, keep in mind that Hugh Crumpler was a guide, and would have set his boats up for 3 people, full livewells and quick hole shots on the Stick Marsh and Farm 13. I think a 250 in good shape should be able to swing a 27 p 3 blade Yammie prop, especially with some jackplate adjustment. Others here know a lot more than me, but this will at least give you some things to think about. Mike Whitten/Germantown, TN
The speed was measured with the gps. The digital speedo is not working. The hole shot is ok. I am on plane in about 2- 3 boat lengths. The 25m prop is a 3 blade. I have not checked the engine height. I guess I measure the prop shaft to the bottom right? I work and fished some team tournaments with the guy who purchased Hughs business. That is how I got into buying this boat. He has a Bullit and it is a fast, but, does not take the rough stuff as well as the Cougar. Just need the numbers to go up where there supposed to be. Thanks for the help guys!
