New Basscat owner

I just bought my first Basscat. I just wanted to share a picture. 07 Puma 250 HPDI. I really like the color combination.

Welcome to the BassCat family! I dont know the boat but I owned a 1993 PII so Im sure there are some similarities. You should have two separate battery “systems”. A 24 volt “system” for the trolling motor and a 12 volt “system” to run the big motor and all the electronics. I had an 80 pound thrust Minnkota on my PII. It was fine except in big wind. I ran two series 27 batteries to run the trolling motor and a big 29 series for the starting and electronics battery. Im sure you will get other advice on this forum. Very helpful “family members” on this site.

Welcome aboard! Having owned a 1990 P2 as my first ride, some 20/20 hindsight advice, find a basscat owner near you and have them show you around the boat. I thought I knew pretty much about boats when I bought that boat. Its now 9 years later, and know I realize how much I still dont know… What area of the country are you located?

The boat was sset up for 12/24 or 24/36 volt systems. In these days there were no 36 volt trollers.Most ran 2 – 12 volt batteries for troller and a large 12 volt battery for the cranking side. Take your pick on the trolling motors.

There is a ton of wiring and switches on the older boats and the connections probably need some TLC.

You definitely want to test the resistance of your trolling motor / battery wires. My family member has an 88 and constantly popping breakers on full power

So turns out a co worker has the same year and model! Ill be able to use his boat as an example! I picked up a motorguide 55lb I figured that would work for now. Im located around Columbia mo. Any other people in Missouri?
