Yes, plugging the holes will help if not fix it. A slight amount of ventilation is the way we prefer the set up. Though it should be only a second or less if you hold it the throttle down, then it should come on over as you hold the throttle at full.

Ok, thanks! We will give that a try. Also, I have read that some feel there are better props out there than the raker. Could you tell me what the opinions are on the renegade, trophy, and tempest? Would these props give me better performance, especially on the holeshot on my sabre. I have a buddy who has a 23 pitch trophy he said I could try. Would it be worth giving a try? Any input on these props would be appreciated.

It will require a BRP hub insert on the Merc Propeller. You dealer may have on you can borrow to try the Trophy. BCB

My Dealer called and said they talked with Evinrude and they recomended using duct tape over the holes before plugging to see if venting the problem. According to Evinrude to install their plugs you have to drill out the holes so a metal clip can hold the plugs in place and they would not exchange prop for another pitch once plugs have been installed. They mentioned that if the duct tape doesnt work I would need to go to a 22 pitch. What are your thoughts on this? Will the duct tape stay on and withstand the heat? Thanks

Silicone will dry overnight, and if liberally applied inside the hub will hold for a test shot. Though we would plug it in this manner. The next option to plug the holes is either an epoxy or Marine Tex. That would then be able to be slightly drilled to tune the hole shot. It will take a bit of time to tune the hole shot if you have no ventilation and plugging does not work. Though this will not harm your propeller and can be easily cleaned up.

Ok. This whole pvs thing is new to me. From what I have read Mercurys plugs are easily installed and removed with no drill or damage to the prop. Would Evinrudes system not be the same? Cant understand the need for drilling to install.

You may be able to redrill the holes to accommodate the PVS system and we have heard of that though never done it. BCB

With holes plug with silicone the boat would plane with no blow out, but very sluggish. The silicon held for only one shot. The real problem is now with all my gear and partners gear in the boat the boat would not even get on pad. It would blow out and and not break over. The dealer has a 23 pitch renegade on the way. Does any have any suggestions on what I need to do? Will the renegade fix my problem? It is very frustrating to have a new boat that wont even get on pad.
