New Puma TM Cable problem?

Hi,Im the proud owner of a new Puma, (first BCB) and Im having a few minor issues that Im hoping someone here has also experienced, and resolved.Because of the way the TM (MG 107) cable lays when the motor is down, when I go to stow it, it loops around the graph, and streches the cable really, really tight. Im sure there is a simple solution that I am missing… I tried changing the way the cable loops out of the pedal, but it looked to me as if I was making too tight a turn with it that way.Anyone else have this problem? how did you fix? I was thinkinig maybe a ram mount for the graph would allow enough room for cable to still loop the way it wants to, without the tension.Oh, one other thing… I am loving this boat!Thanks

The simplest fix is to twist the trolling motor head a bit to redirect the cable. This redirects the way it falls over the bow. You want a twist in the cable to where it creates a loop in a circular shape and that takes the slack out of the cable.On most trollers this works great, though on some they have the cable and foot angles different and the cable pulley on top of hte shaft must be re set. Try adjusting the depth at which the trolling motor is set. It too will readjust the cable length when in the stowed position.

My friend had the same issue on his puma. He has a lowrance and put the trolling motor cable underneath his graph, no more getting caught and out of the way.

It may require removal of the trolling motor from the bracket to reposition the head and remove a twist out of the cables. Though the cable twist and angle is the answer. You can open the trap door on the bracket, and spin the actual motor and shaft 360 degrees and figure this out.BCB
