Welcome back Tim!  I was a relatively new member (joined in 2009) back when basketman, Sam, and don’t forget clownshoes (Doc) were regular contributors to the forum.  Clownshoes may still be lurking around here somewhere.  Think this format is the 3rd rendition of the forum since then.  There is also a FB page or 2 that can be helpful though usually more entertaining.  For serious information/help this is still the place to be.

Enjoy retirement.  I retired 14 years ago and  guess what, retirement does not suck!  Fishing  midweek is a beautiful thing before the weekend warriors are screaming around the lake although where I am (south Lake Champlain) there are tournaments Wednesday through Sunday almost every week  now.

[Bass Cat Boats]

This forum is rebuilding some as the Facebook crowd is figuring out information is not easy to get on FB. You just can’t look at a post title and figure out information on service and use like a forum. Thus there is some younger forum growth the last couple of years.

There are two functioning area clubs out of Mountain Home area and the guys at Escape Outdoors can help. Those clubs are Arkansas BASS Federation chapters. The club in Gainesville was functioning the last we knew.

There are clubs outside of the area if you want to ride, and there are those that aren’t sanctioned for Bassmaster events also. Of course you know there are lots of team events in the area if you want solid competition. And there are a few retired guys that aren’t sanctioned for just looking for someone to fish occasionally and will fish those events.

Those were great times with that group. Sam, Doug and Gary all started the GAF on the bayou, in Louisiana, at Luke D’s place. Clown Shoes is still fishing, and hangs out occasionally with a group that started fishing those GAF events. John P. doesn’t hang out much anymore, he’s just too busy. All of them still fish and have current boats and motors.

Amazing that all three of those which started the GAF are now gone. All left us early due to various health related issues.

Doc was a dentist if I recall and ran an E-Tech back then.

I was thinking Doc was specialist in surgery on ears (Otolaryngology?).  I remember him cautioning us to protect our ears when flying down the lake which is advice I still follow though the damage had already been done.  I have hearing aids now and wish I took hearing protection seriously when I was young thus stupid.  I warn my young fishing friends now to protect their hearing while they still can because once it’s gone….  You can learn more on this forum then how to best your Cat.

DOC is a ENT surgeon and spends way too much time working and not playing with us.  Phil is the same ol grump he always was and is fixing to retire which will make him even grumpier.  Sam and Doug are greatly missed.  Luke is still holding the fort down in South LA.  The GAF is still rolling we just had it in December at Rayburn.  Alot of the old gang is still around along with some new.  The days of staying up on here til midnight have been replaced with chat groups on iphones and as BCB said the better info is here and not bookface.  Boogerdocs ol etec is still rolling as is the newer snot rocket he inherited from k pink.  I would love to see one more good ol Bridge Bay GAF at Toledo myself.
