Finally pulled the trigger on a 2023 Puma STS. Lots (and LOTS) of research and decision making went in to this purchase but ultimately I’ve always wanted a Cat so that’s the direction I went. I have lots of questions, obviously, so I figured this was one of the better places to start.
– Looking for input on graph mounting options at the bow. This boat actually has four Garmin 8612’s (2 at the dash, 2 at the bow) but they’re mounted low at the bow, using the molded BC bow area. I crappie fish probably 80% of the time, utilizing a double seat mount at the bow so there is often two of us sitting up there. I would like an extend-able/foldable(maybe?)/raise/lower kind of mount (like a Beatdown Flex?) so that I can get the graphs up and in my face so to speak. Will a Beatdown Flex or the like work on a Puma STS bow design?
– It may be a sin, but I’m considering swapping out the two 8612’s for a NBT 16 or 22 at the bow (and just run one graph at the bow). Anybody have any experience with this? A little concerned that the 22 will be too big…I know, there’s no such thing in the electronics world, just concerned that the 22 may take up too much space and be in the way..
– Anybody know how difficult it is to swap out the center step box to a seat?
I am certain to have more questions as I acclimate myself to the boat, so I appreciate the help..
