Trying to figure out how I'm going to hold that aluminum backer plate in place for the two forward trolling motor mount bolts while getting a nut & washer on, all with one hand squeezed through that narrow opening in the bow. Anyone got any tricks?
I have been successful in the past by using a loop of high quality (100mph) Duct tape folded in a loop so that there is adhesive on both sides with a hole through it for the bolt.
I’ve superglued the washer and nut together, then the washer sits on top of wrench with nut attached. This helps you get the nut lined up on the bolt as well because washer is a guide. It’ll probably break loose once you tighten.
I also glued the washer to the plate. Then had someone hold down on the screw and slid the plate up the screw. It will stay up while you start the nut. turn a couple times then line up the other screw while there is plenty of play. The back one is much easier. Have a couple extra lock nuts and washers just in case.
