Oil?

To my knowledge this is the same oil.At least thats what my dealer said.Just different pkg and lower cost(quicksilver)….Academy has the quicksilver premium plus for 17.00 a gallon this week.

Quicksilver is the over the counter, non Mercury Dealer brand for WalMart shelves and such. Parts all used to be Quicksilver Parts. They are the same oil. BCB

The merciry oil says synethic blend on the bottle, I assumed that the quick silver would too if it was synthetic but it does not say it. Also the mecury bottle says it provides warranty protection for mercury, this is not on the quick silver bottle. Bottom line is I assumed if one bottle said synthetic the other would too. And they both say premimum plus. Thanks for the help BCB and the boat owners are incredible.

I know what dragginup is saying. I was given a gallon of Merc Premium Plus “synthetic” today when I picked up my boat. I went by Bass Pro and picked up a gallon of Quicksilver Premium Plus and I too cound not see anywhere indicating that it is synthetic. I have a 250 Pro XS. Interesting though…the Merc is $10.00 a gallon more than Quicksilver. I will be interested to hear from you guys on this one as well.Jmtfrisco, Texas

Quicksilver is the same oil as Mercury no problems running either or mixing. I would be willing to bet Tommys bulk price on the Merc oil is still cheaper than BPS on the Quicksilver though JL

Someone will comment later who is more knowledgeable, but if you change oils, I believe you need to empty the oil tank and possibly even purge the lines. Ive read somewhere that conventional and synthetic blends mixing can cause it to gel which could cause possible engine failure.

They can be mixed with brown and blue, though not left as they can clabber if left in the tank together in storage.Use it up if your switching.

I was using Quicksilver Premium Plus and then saw that they only had Premium Plus Synthetic Blend, I sent email to Mercury and they responded that the synthetic blend is the same oil, and to go ahead and use the new blend. Just a name change for marketing. I printed email and put it on file.
