We suggest another location such as the transom. Though on an 89 P2 we are taking a stab at it as often they have all sorts of modifications by previous owners.

I own a “95 Pantera. Mounted mine between oil tank and batteries. Built a raised bracket that strattled the bilge pumps and mountedit on the brackets. Takes the weight off the transom and still have easy access to the pumps.

Ill try to post some pics this weekend. The way I have it designed is it takes about 2 minutes to access the pumps. I used alluminum brackets so no corrosion issues to worry about.

I mounted mine on the transom, I used stainless steel beer fittings to act as a spacer to keep it off of the transom plate. Ill try to get some pics today.Your Signature …

Ben, I ended up mounting mine over the bilge area. I cut a piece of scrap aluminum roughly 12″x23″ and formed a bracket that would set up off the bilge area with a 1″ flange on each side mounted under the battery trays using the same screws holding the trays in place. I than bolted the charger on the top of the brackett. I can still access the bilge area and pumps if needed. Please see pics. Kenny

Im still convinced that the best place to mount a charger is in the back of youre truck, with clips on the leads, and lay it on the deck when charging ! Alot of weight eliminated from the boat, the beating it has to endure in the bilge, and ventilation issues all wear on the life of the charger. When mine goes south i will not remount one, but do as my friend Ward, and carry it in the truck when necessary.
