Once Power Poles are added…..???

I would go up about a 1/4-3/8ths on the JP. Buddy on his Cougar had to go up almost 1/2 inch to get same hole shot/topend, he had 10 foot blades. I went up a 1/4 inch on my Puma with 8 footers, and am very happy. Did lose a little bit of top end (1-1.5Mph) but she still will run!

We would it raise the plate to gain hole shot, though see how it runs. Maximize the top end first thing, then work on propeller venting to increase hole shot. The hole shot is all about venting and if you raise for hole shot the boat may not be as tolerant to forces on top end. Thats the drill we follow. BCB

I just put 2 8 foot blades on my cougar .with the water still frozen I havnt been able to take it out yet – do u really think 2 poles will change the hole shot that much?

Yes Jim, they are a top heavy water hugging monster. The weight rotating back while hole shot is needed do and can rob hole shot. The newer brackets are better though it can be a factor. Five years ago these came on the scene and hulls can not be designed to accommodate something we did not have five years back. We are not sure that the top end and hold shot can both be achieved with some of the added rear weight as it was a few years ago. Especially with Tallons mounted on the transom with the top heavy nature of the electric motor. We fought one particular boat when the MK poles first came out. We did not have our hands on it, though the impression was that it was our hulls fault when removing the Tallon parts achieved a hole shot loaded. Every rig is quite different also.

I realize your statement was directed towards a Cougar however the thread was started from an Eyra owner and other Eyra owners have experienced holeshot issues.

It was announced at the 2010 Bassmasters Classic in Birmingham, though R & D began years earlier and the hull was shown at the 2009 dealer meeting without dealers knowledge of the actual model or size. The Eyra hull was complete in 2008 and is the first portion completed before Deck design begins. Just like they already have hulls designed you will not see for some time to come. The Jaguar was introduced in 09 or 2010 model year and the hull was done in fall of 2007 and the Eyra was temporarily benched to build the Jaguar from aspects developed in the Eyra preproduction designs. The presentation at the Classic was prototype only. First production boat with all aspects was Tom Moores Eyra with the 200 Yamaha which was defining it as a bridge boat. We later exchanged that seat assembly to the newer style. The Eyra was a response to rising fuel prices and trends of high performance engines and boats slipping out of favor. An effort to offer them a more traditional bass boat with increased handling and load carrying performance. It also has a limiter built into the hull.The boat deck originally was designed for gas or spring supported scissor traveling, shock assist, seat bases and more goodies that for one reason or another got set aside. The seat bases either had a 200-250 pound weight limit or they were not feasible and accessible in required volumes, or other reasons. Other aspects were decided to be too out of the box for acceptance and it was a huge success at introduction and later in 2011.
