Opinions Needed

Im not a BassCat owner yet but Im winding down the research period of the boat buying process and have settled on BassCat. This board is actually one of the main reasons. I think it is great the way owners and BassCat folks respond to questions/issues on the board. My issue is this: I keep going back and forth between ordering a brand new Pantera II with lots of options, or getting a 1-2 year old slightly used Puma FTD or Couger FTD. My budget is 40-50K. I fish mostly lakes of all sizes in Northeast Oklahoma. I fish small water supply lakes, and I fish Grand Lake quite a bit. The club Im in fishes most of the larger lakes around here. I like the idea of ordering a new boat just the way I want, with just the options I want and colors I want. The boat would be easy to tow, store, and little easier on gas. I also see the benefits of having 250 horses and a better big water ride. I dont want to pay for a brand new 20 footer. Ive atually never owned a bass boat before. I fish tournaments out of my partners boat, and borrow my father-in-laws at Grand. Ready to get my own ride. I have been patient and saved for a few years, and now it comes to it and I can talk myself into either. Opinions as to what you guys would do?

Id buy phil addisons puma ftd in july or kevin shorts eyra in august. Also if mike sanders boat is still for sale id buy that one now. All three of thede guys i know personally and the boat will be perfect and loaded. Get the 20 boat and move on. Outboards are all horrible on gas in the whole scheme anyway. You arent gonna buy an ugly one used. All the boats mentioned are loaded. Boats are only 1 difference roughly but ride and speed vastly different if the wind howls. Only advantage i see in smaller boat is storage of the boat and cost if someone has to have new. Having to have new is something is a disorder i am fortunately not afflicted with.More club tournaments won out of older ones than new ones by far. As for P4, i had one for 4 years. Loved it. However i like my puma ftd better- better reach to waves, faster substantially. The P4 would be a very nice option as stated, if you going for the New boat. If its between the the P2 and the puma or cougar, id have to go with the one/two year old boat and more HP. Now between a new P4 and a 1 or 2 year old puma/cougar, that would have to depend on the hours, electronics and options on the 20 footer. There are some incredible deals that can be found on puma and cougars if you not in a rush. Keep an eye on http://www.impactfishing.com some reall good deals pop up from time to time and a lot of pro-staff boats end up being sold on there as well.

I had funds in hand and deal worked out for a 12 P II. Beautiful boat just couldnt pull the trigger.A few months later drove to Mtn Home (1200 miles) for an 09 PumaDefinitely the right decision for me but opinions are like…..

All the points above are excellent. Personally, I love my PII. It is exceptionally fuel efficient with the 200 opti. It is also easy to get in tight places fishing that a larger boat might give a few challenges. Of course you may sacrifice on rough water rides. Regardless, you cant go wrong with a BCB product.

You cant go wrong with any model. I would say a p4 its like a 20 foot boat. It still fits in tight places and takes rough water well. I have a new one and the ride is awesome.Last edited by Guest on February 9th, 2013, 3:36 pm, edited 1 time in total.

P4 p2 cougar puma you will love any of them. Join the p4 mafia and you will see why
