Owner Satisfaction for Puma versus Lynx boats

If you are looking for more deck space, than the Lynx or the Caracal could be a great choice. Caracal is almost a 20ft boat, runs 72-73 and has great storage. Rear Storage is huge in the Caracal also. Recommend dual rear tanks to pick up underseat storage. Both the Lynx and Caracal have center rod lockers so that is a decision over the Puma which has the more traditional left and right rod lockers.  However the Puma is a great layout and the step from the cockpit to the deck is a little lower and may be easier to manage.   It is just like having three great steaks placed in front of you-which one would you choose?  (They are all great!!!)

I turn 62 this year, I had a ’13 Puma FTD and now have a Lynx.  The big deck is great for balance issues.  The one thing that I saw with my Puma though was that when I put in an Ultrex it added as whole new dimension to the boat.  When it got really rough out I just stood back in the middle of the front deck and ran the trolling motor off the remote, it worked great and gave me fore fishable space up front.  If I ever downsize it would be to a Caracal, the spacious deck spoils you quick!

Good morning Gerald – In an effort to try and answer your question versus steer you into another model and add confusion; In my experience from owning Rangers and riding in multiple Skeeters and other brands (Phoenix, Nitro,etc.) and having an in-depth understanding of hull designs and ride characteristics – the Lynx ride is far more comfortable than anything else I’ve experienced in 1-3′ chop and larger rollers.  PM me if you have more specific questions.  If you are a small/calm lake guy or fair weather angler – its not as prevalent.  However, I am recovering from a spinal injury myself and ride was the number one evaluation criteria (Comfort over Speed) that I had when comparing manufacturers and models.  When you add in the manufacturing techniques, procedures and practices along with the stellar customer support – I do not think you can go wrong with another BCB.

As an admin note – I test drove all premium models of BCB’s with the exception of the Jag – for what you name as your concerns with a new boat –  the Caracal is a great platform as well and similar deadrise and rake as the Lynx so the rough water ride is different that the other BCB premium models.  Again, PM if you have specific questions – I’m happy to help.

I marshaled on the Elite Oahe event last year and rode in an FX20 Skeeter and 2 Z521L Rangers, the big water ride is tremendously better in my Lynx!

I have owned several Cats from a P2, Eyra’s, Puma’s, a Jag and now a Lynx. I have also owned a few Brand X boats. I too like yourself am beginning to feel the pain more than “Feeling the Rush” after a long day on a crowded choppy lake. I purchased my first Lynx last August and can’t say enough good about the platform. The storage, the front deck space, the ride, the handling are all second to no boat I have experienced. I am a big ole boy at 6’4″, 245#’s and the room behind the driver’s console is also great. I have never owned a bass boat that I could stretch my legs out comfortably behind and wear a cap at WOT. The Lynx is it! I tell people all the time “My Lynx is like driving my living room couch around the lake at 75 mph.” If you end up at the owner’s tourney in a couple weeks and want to take mine for a spin, look me up. Gerald, I am soon to be 65 yrs. old and went from a Puma to a Lynx due to balance issues among other reasons. I have no regrets at all. The Lynx is huge up front and I like the storage very much. The room up front is just what I needed. The Lynx is not as nimble as the Puma of course due to it’s size but still handles great to me. It’s very stable, fast and extremely well built. If I ever purchase another boat it will be a Lynx.
