P4 rear compartment lights

I leave my rear compartment open when charging the battery or not using my boat to keep the area dry and ventilate the gas smell. My lights used to stay on a while before going out. Problem is that now my lights no longer work at all. All other compartments seem to be ok. Boat is a 2006 P4. Any ideas?

This is apparently a ground issue. Check the hinge and see if the wires are going to the bolt that holds the hinges to the lids. That is the ground (negative) source and it has a tendency to loosen and effect the ground. Otherwise it will have to be traced. BCB

check the bolts nuts and screws of hinges, mine were loose causing the same issue, tightened up and presto lights work, thank you schwarzels marine

Yep, the foam in the lids allows the grounds to loosen, and until that foam fully compresses, the issue can occur. BCB

my P-IV had the same problem.from opening the hatch and it coming out of the hinges it pulled the wire connectors loose.
