What’s the best set up for my 06’ P4 200 Optimax manual jackplate w/26 Tempest have two holes plug outer/inter plate about an 1” apart. I have been playing with my jackplate in 1/4“increments I read somewhere that my jackplate should be flush/level with one another is this true? Getting tried of playing the increment game. Also is vinegar good to take off hard water spot on my motor? How do you guys get the luster back on your chrome wheels? Thanks Joe BarreraYour Signature …

I have the same year and model. I run a 26 trophy I ran the tempest but got the best numbers with trophy. The PIV does lie the motor low. The hull on these things doesnt ride high so your best numbers are most likely going to be jackplate low. Mine is setup with 26 Trophy medium sized plugs in all holes, plus the blowout ring on as well. My jackplate is about 3/8 in. from flush running touny load full of fuel two people 70.2 gps @ 5600 rpms. With the heat I am about 69.6 to 69.1 . your numbers will also be better as the water begins to cool. These Mercs dont really dig the heat. I hope this will help you but there will be much better advise given on this board as there always is. My numbers are going to be close to everyone else that is running the PIV. Sorry to be long winded but I forgot to say that the differnce between the trophy and tempest is that the trpohy tends to carry heavy load alot better allowing you to run more consistent in the rough stuff.Robbie WilmuthTuscaloosa,ALRoll Tide Roll !!!!

I own a p4 with a 200 ho evinrude with 26 tempest and my t partner has a 200 opti with a 26 trophy.Trophy plate is MUCH lower than my tempest- the 3/8 lower seems right to me too. My tempest is usually just above or at flush on the inner outer plate comparison.I like the tempest because when we practice fish I can outrun his butt. We tournament fish predominately out of his boat and the trophy is nice in this environment. Particularly when he runs the pump-in for too long and puts a foot of water in the boat….As for the water spots- its easy- the basscat cleaner will smoke those things and then if you regularly use a bassboat saver or similar product the future spots wont stick on the buildup/protectant from the bassboat saver spray. I have used CLR but its a little too toxic for my liking.C.O.D. Jr. III
