P4 setup

I run an Optimax on mine, but 69-70, loaded, is not out of reach. Tempest or Fury, both 25p. +/- 3″ below pad. I prefer the Tempest, better handling and liftEveryone seems to like something a little different.

2013 P4, 200 SHO, 25 fury, 68-69mph 55/5600 rpm s. 1/4 above flush. I want to try a 24 fury to see if I can get a few more rpms and break 70 mph. Ed

HPDI is not a big block in that year model and probably has cubic inches holding it some.

What is your elevation? anything above 2000ft it helps to lower the motor sometimes as much as 3/4″, I have run most mfg boats at 3600ft elevation and they all need lower motor settings as the air is too thin to lift the hull and the Horsepower drops off a little. that boat should run in the upper 60s easy enough.

I have a 2006 classic and I think my jackplate is tuned in finally. I have a 2005 200 VMAX non hpdi. Ill try to get a proper pad measurement tomorrow. But I was hitting 5900 rpm and 69.5 gps. I went up another 1/8 inch to see if I can squeeze out that last 100 rpm and reach 70. I have a 25 P standard yamaha 3 blade prop. No manufacturer name on it. I also feel like I am using a lot of trim to get that speed and from what I hear everyone say is that cats dont like a lot of trim. I am probably using almost as much trim as I did on my 94 17.5 foot stratos with the 150 intruder. So i am hoping that raising the motor will allow me to use less trim to reach 70. I am a big guy, 300 and cough… so 69.5 might be the best I get with full tanks, livewells, tackle, and a 200 lb partner. I dont like to push an unfamiliar 9 year old motor that hard, but I want to know the speed is there when and if I need it.Edit: The top rpm range according to my manual is 6000. So I assume I can run it to 6000 and it will red line there or just over. I assume that the 2005 HPDI is also 6000. Northern basser I have a 2007 PIV with the same engine and prop. With 2 people on board I am running 5400 rpms and topping out at 65-66. I am about a 1 1/2 inches above flush. I am going to try a 24 Fury and drop it down to flush or 1/2 less in the near future. I think there is more to be had with this engine. I am carrying a heavy load with a 4 battery set up with my MK trolling motor.

Thanks for the input guys. The first thing were gonna do is try to get more rpms out of the 25P. Ill post the results when I have some…I know that set up can be frustrating, but its a fun problem to have!!
