p4 vs cougar advantage

Wow this would be a tough one to answer I figure. I only know one person that has owned both and he has a p4 now. From a little educated distance that is a comparison of apples and oranges. To me its a question of speed and layout preferences really. The advantage elite they have here in LR is a beautiful boat and a crazy good price.C.O.D. Jr. III

Both will have about the same stability. The Cougar Advantage will be better in rough water. You have to remember, the Cougar Advantage is the same boat as the 07 Cougar FTD only it lacks some of the standard features and has the smaller console.

I have had both. I had a P4 for about 2 years now I have an FTD with the old style hull. I think fishing stability would go to the FTD as well as the rough water ride. The speed of the FTD is definitely better on the FTD also. As far as layout again the FTD gets my vote. I dont miss the rear storage from the P4. I like and I guess my partners do too the humongous front compartment for my partners stuff as opposed to only one of the rear storage compartments. I have also fished from the back of a P4 and I personally dont standing on the compartment my stuff is in. I end up moving off the rear deck to open the compartment and get to my stuff anyway.

jhva has done an excellent job of assessing the difference in rear deck storage and the underseat as well as the large deck compartments. One of our many time repeat BCB owners put it best when comparing rear deck storage on the P3 to the P4. They said it was like reaching into the rear seat on their Tahoe to get to the console. A couple of other Long Term owners, who came from P3s, wanted the back deck of their P3 models and front decks of the P4. It is all a matter of preference, and older BCB owners are different than newer ones.

I have a 2006 P4. The reason I was sold on it was because folks like Phil sold me on features such as how well it handled rough water and very near to the ride of the bigger BCBs. It does handle well. I had a 18 ft before, and that extra 1.5 ft makes a big enough difference. For a 19.5 ft boat, it has plenty of storage front and back. With fuel prices that will continue to climb over $100 dollars a barrel, I plan to stay at 19.5 with a 200 HP. Wish I had more money to spend on gas for pulling a bigger boat loaded with more stuff, but I dont see that happening in my life. at he rod lookers full carpeted, on these moldes, i have a sabre at the moment and the top haft of the lookers have no carpet, and they do messs up your your tips

The Cougar boxes are longer and the orgnizers are covering the rods, plus the boxes have more carpeting.
