Perko Latches Vs Marine Town Latches

Does anyone have any experience on replacing perko latches with the premium marine town latches? My margay seems to have water all but run into the compartments anytime I happen to be in rain. This is both sitting and driving. It gets tedious to have to shop vac out a couple of the compartments as those compartments have no natural drainage ability. I can tighten the perkos up, but they seem to either loosen up or the foam between the lid and them compresses more over time and they lose their snug fit.... So I am really thinking of going to the premium line marine town latches. Couple questions I have. Can these be swapped without any modification? Has anyone run into water coming through the marine town latches? I know they say on the basscat website they are watertight. I recently got to fish in a newer premium basscat with the the marine co latches and honestly the overall design in every aspect seems to be way better than the perkos and to me look like they are way more water tight than the perkos seem to be for me. I think several have reported success. I went with SouthCo myself. But whatever you do, you will have to do a little tweaking I am sure. IE my cooler would not work with a new SouthCo, the pawl was too long. An angle grinder, cutoff wheel, and then a dremel to clean it up and polish it and all was well. Hardest part for me was removing the Perko latches as most had RTV under the large retaining nut that holds them in, and they were a bear to break loose. Went and bought a ginormous pair of channel locks to remove them.2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200

I have been hand tightening them back in place it seems once every couple months, so I know there isnt any RTV under the nut? Not worried about having to modify latch length to fit, I was more speaking on the hole diameter in the lids. Id hate to get them and find out hole size needs to be smaller/bigger…

Even though i had whitecap latches. I made the swap to marinetown simply because they are advertised as “watertight”. I waited on some real time responses on the marinetown. I posted a couple different times looking for “reviews”. Not a negative response from no one. I like the latches alot. Although the real test for me will ne this spring as i fish many rainy days. .
