The bulb burned out on my Perko stern light (version supplied with the 2006 Pumas). Of course, the light has no markings indicating watts. There are various watts (range 2 – 18 watts) available in replacement bulbs. Does anyone know the recommended watt bulb?

It would be nice if there was an LED module replacement that fit that socket

Thanks BCB. I should have done some additional research before asking the question. The marking was barely visible on the light. It appears that the wattage of a 906 is 8.97.

As a side note… do not use an automotive bulb that just happens to fit. It runs way too hot and will melt your plastic cover. However, if there is an RV supply store nearby they will have 12V lights for use in plastic light fixtures that will work just fine, and not be so hot as to melt your cover. Of course an exact replacement is usually best, but sometimes we have to improvise. Bob, Thanks for the information. The melting concern is why I initially asked about watts since I found bulbs that ranged from 2-18 watts. I would like to replace the light with an exact replacement from Perko; however, as you indicated, sometimes we have to improvise. I have a tournament on Saturday and guess what…without working lights they are not going to send me out (and I should not go anyway without both lights working). As a result I am attempting to find an adequate and safe replacement. According to my web searches, the watt range for the GE906 is 8.97-9.32, depending on the brand. I appreciate all the input. As everyone says, this is the best site for getting answers, in a timely fashion, to your questions. Neil

GE906 is printed on the bulb. It is very hard to see and on a used bulb might be faded. Though if you hold it to a white piece of paper with light you may see it.
