PIV Prop Setup

I purchased a 07 PIV in May. I have tried numerous props and jackplate setups and none have gotten me over 65mph. I was wondering if anyone is touching 70mph with their PIVs. If so please share what prop and set up you are acheiving this with. Oh yea it is a 200 Opti.Thanks,Scott

What propeller do you have now, and give us some data such as RPMs and have you done anything or had a dealer help at all?BCB

I have a 2006 P4, with a 26P trophy, two holes open, two with med size vent plugs, i am getting 69-70.4 with full tanks (53 ga), gear and one person, with two people, it drops to around 66, this is in the summer time, In the winter with two people i was getting closer to 67.8-68 mph. Best speed so far is 71.2 last fall. I am still playing around with the height, i think i am a little too high right now as I seem to be hitting the rev limiter quite often on morning runs at WOT. Holeshot is good around 3-3.5 seconds to plane over.Jay Law

My T partner has a 2006 p4 with 2004 opti 200. 26 trophy with jackplate almost as low as you can go with steering bar. Usually runs similar to gafishin.I have a 2004 with 200 HO evinrude, 26 tempest- I have gone 73.5 with me only tackle and fumes in the tank in a lake this spring. But otherwise my numbers are the same. Jackplate inner plate is just above flush with outer plate.C.O.D. Jr. III

I have an 04 PIV and have gotten up to 72GPS with partner and light gas running a 27 trophy with a blowout ring and two holes plugged

Ihave a 2006 with a 200 Opti. and a 26 Trophy. My jackplate is a 1/4 inch above outside plate. The prop has all of the plugs in it with them being medium, also with blow out ring. My numbers are similar to everyone elses. Two people touny loaded and full fuel running 69.8 GPS, at 5600 rpms. Me in it by myself and half tank of fuel the best I have seen is 73.2 GPS. You have to remember that PIV is not a speed demon, but it is a cadilliac with moderate speed. When it gets rough and choopy out there is when you will shine for sure and others will eat your spray.Robbie T-Town, Alabama

Im also running a 26p Trophy, and a bit sluggish with a tourney load,(especially with near 100 degrees) but all around best set-up. The Tempest will have a slightly better top speed, but all around performance goes to the Trophy, D.

Thanks for all the input. I am running a 26 trophy also. At first I was only getting about 5200 RPMs and about 62-63MPH GPS. We then moved the Plate up an 1/2 inch from flush and changed to a 26 tempest. This setup raised my RPMs to 5600 and my speed to 65MPH GPS, but with my wells full I was blowing out at takeoff. Now I am back to the 26 trophy but have kept the jackplate 1/2 inch up and am getting 64MPH GPS. By the way the guys at Dupo Marine have been awesome switching over props and adjusting the plate. I am just the only PIV they have sold. I am a pretty big guy (280 lbs) maybe that has more to do with it than anything, but I was really hoping to be able to hit 70MPH.Again thanks for everones inputScott

I have an 07 PIV with 200 opti, 25 Trophy. I too am a porker (280) with great love handles. If I raise the motor to get light to heavy left torque, I can touch 70 and bump the rev limiter if I dont eat breakfast. If I lower the motor for light or balanced torque (my preference) I can get 68 consistently and stay off the rev limiter. I cant tell you where the motor is in relation to the pad; I set it so it is comfortable to drive. YOu will get 1 to 2 mph less in the summer, best speeds will be in the winter.
